Breaking and Entering

So as I left for work today I headed off to my and noticed my hood was popped...

You know that sick feeling you get in your tummy when something you KNOW is bad just happened. You just got caught in a huge lie? Or you just broke something priceless? Just got in a car accident? Set a baby on fire?

Yeah I had that about now.

So I walk around and realize my car's driver side was unlocked. And my hood was propped open. This is very odd. Immediatley I assume I have been broken into and open the door to go through the damage. I notice my change drawer has been emptied out. (total loss, maybe $2 in spare change). My glove compartment had been opened and my mom's Ray-Ban fugly glasses from the 80's were taken (total loss, negative $3. Honestly they were fucking ugly). I look around and find my nametag, which was pinned to my server apron.

... They took my server apron. All it had was some books to present checks, some pens, and two lighters. Total loss: 2 bucks?

Then I realized I have a 6-CD changer in my trunk. I pop it and run around to go look. Yup :/ gone.

Wondering why my hood was popped I walked aorund noticed that the mounting bracket holding my battery down was unscrewed. The battery was still there just the one nut was gone. So... I'm not sure what they really tried to do there.

I'm not really devestated by this all, I just feel more violated than anything. I mean I lived not too far from San Francisco, San Jose, and Oakland for all my life and I get broken into here? Bumfuck nowhere? Odd.

So I got a locked garage to park my car in now, which is better.

Updating Shopping List

Becuase the mobo I want doesn't support regular DDR I have to get something different. So why not go 64bit?

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ AMD Athlon 64 X2 3700+ $295.00 $214.24 (Supports dual channel ram)
ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe $209.99 (By recomendation of Mango-types)
GeForce 7800 GT $279.69

(Still going for the same video card)

So this will be around $800 without the case, which I already ordered.

Computer Upgrade Specs

So after a little research this is what I'm looking at:

$130.00 for the Antec P180 Case

$349.99 for the Asus P5ND2-SLI Motherboard and Intel Pentium 4 541 3.2Ghz CPU

$279.69 for the GeForce 7800 GT video card

So total without tax and stuff comes to around $757.00

So with shipping it should be around $800, tax and all.

Should be nice. I'll make a step up to PCI-E and SLi. Also have a spiffy new case to quiet it all down.

This also allows me to get a second 7800 GT for SLi once I get a little bit more money.

So Many Chores

I don't know how my mom did it all those years. I haven't been living on my own for even an entire month now and just the sheer amount of dishes and laundry that needs/gets done is amazing. It seems ever other day we are out of dishes and they are piling over our small little kitchen. Granted we have shallow sinks but still, I don't know what we are eating to go through this much shit this quickly. Today I woke up late so I decided I should just clean house until work (about 2 hours later); I found cleaning carpet without a vaccum is much harder than I thought. Sweeping a carpet takes forever, but at least I got a lot of the crap up.

Also: Chibimon is no longer allowed over without a hairnet or shaving his head, it's been near a week since he's left and we're STILL finding his hairs everywhere. I don't know what to do with these boxes we have laying around, I'm thinking we'll probably keep them.

I should probably talk to my roommates about this but they will read it so it's kind of the same thing. I know vee is kind of blar right now because he left his girlfriend; which is very understandable. He mentioned something to me about possibly moving in with her around August or something and that got me thinking: if he decides to go ahead with that plan of his then Bryan and I will most likely try to find a place in California to live. It's nice up here and all but (I know this sounds shallow) it doesn't feel like home. It's just too backwater feeling around these parts, even though I live not too far from the most wired city in America.

I don't want to bring Bryan down with me though if he is going to feel the same way about California. I don't think he will; I remember he said a while ago he was having second thoughts about me moving up here, he'd wish he would have moved down to where I was.

But this is all wishful thinking and advanced planning. If we do plan on moving I want to be farther away from my house than he is from his parents. Not that I don't love my parents, but Bryan lives like 2 minutes from his, and I want to feel more independent than that.

Also: What I can't complain about is the work here. While the co-workers are odd (not in a funny goofy way like my old ones), they give me 5 days a week and I pull in over $70 a night, which is an added plus. If things keep up like this I wont have to worry about making rent or any kind of bills.

We need a vaccum :(

Computer

I'm beginning to think my computer isn't as cool as I thought it once was. I'm thinking my 9800XT is finally starting to show it's age. I got less than 2k on my 3DMark score.

That's pathetic.

Is there anyone outthere willing to help me upgrade my computer?

First Few Weeks

So there is 10 minutes left on my frozen pizza and I decided to post a bit about life now. It's been a few weeks now and things have gotten a bit steady. I had my second day at work today, it's the same shit day in and day out, just with different floor layout and people.

I know I shouldn't judge right now but my new co-workers aren't as diverse as my old crew. There is a little bit difference though, already I know of 4 gay people at my new job... 3 of them are managers. That's a bit... odd, figuring down in California I didn't find one and up here in cold ass nowhere there is like a plethora of them. Oh well.

Having vee around is pretty much what I excpected (good). It's sooo nice to be able to talk nerdy with a... nerd. Coon is great and all but he doesn't grasp much beyond checking your email or playing a MMO.

Driving around here is pretty bad. I'll admit it, we in California drive a bit... hectic; but we know how to deal with other hectic drivers. Roads and drivers up here are... random at times. They don't seem to be aware of what is happening at all times around them. Their car spidey sence isn't installed.

So far the bills and whatnot living on my own seem to be doing well, we will be splitting things mostly three ways. The only thing we need now is a real couch. Right now we have coon's futon and it isn't doing so well with the couch part. We have played through every console game I own and are pretty damn bored of it all. Eevee has Metroid Prime 2 that we have been playing off and on but for the most part we are tired of them.

I work 5 days a week which is very nice, figuring we are a bit busier than my old resturaunt.

I do miss you all down in California. I miss my parents a lot. I want them to see my first apartment and be proud of me but they are so far away it's hard. I miss seeing my brother every Tuesday. It was boring as hell during the meeting but afterwords it was nice to see him again.

I miss Feles a lot. I just realized he was the only person I went out with and did stuff with. Last night I wanted noodles. Really bad. It was like 11:30pm and I knew if I called him up he would be ready to go in like 20 minutes. I miss watching Diggnation with him and just being a nerd.

I miss the warm tempurature. :(

I am not regretting moving, this is the greatest thing that has happened to me in a very long time. I just have to find things around here I like.
